From Markdown draft to editable Word document

A Markdown draft is easy to write, but a colleague or client may need a Word file. Paste your draft here or open a Markdown file, check the preview, and download a .docx without copying and rebuilding the formatting by hand.

The download contains native Word headings, paragraphs, lists, hyperlinks, and tables. You can edit table cells, change heading styles, and continue working in Word. The preview helps you check content and structure; it is not a page-for-page rendering of the final document.

Choose the output you need

Need a rendered document or HTML instead? Use the Markdown Viewer. For unformatted text, use Remove Markdown.

If copied AI text needs spacing or punctuation fixes before export, use the AI Text Cleaner first. This converter preserves the words you supply.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Markdown to Word?
Paste Markdown into the editor, or open or drop a .md or .txt file up to 5 MB. Check the preview, then click Download .docx. Open the downloaded file in Microsoft Word or import it into Google Docs.
Which formatting survives the conversion?
Headings become Word heading styles. Bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, code blocks, links, nested bullet and numbered lists, task-list symbols, and tables become editable Word content. Numbered lists preserve their starting number. Task checkboxes are text symbols, not interactive Word controls.
Can I convert ChatGPT or Claude output to Word?
Yes. Paste an answer containing Markdown headings, lists, or tables. The converter keeps your wording and turns the Markdown structure into a Word document. It does not rewrite or summarize your text.
Are images, HTML, equations, and diagrams supported?
Images become alt-text placeholders and are never fetched. Raw HTML is shown as literal text. LaTeX equations and diagram code remain source text rather than rendered equations or diagrams. The preview shows document content; Word controls final pagination and font rendering.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Reading the file, previewing Markdown, and generating the .docx all happen in your browser. There is no document upload, account, or conversion API.
